Last but not least: piggy banks on the Internet
Swiss banks are embracing social media: Migros Bank is launching a savings account that can be linked to Facebook, Julius Bär has an official YouTube channel, and Raiffeisen has even created a position dedicated solely to social media.
Migros Bank is therefore encouraging customers to publish their savings goals on Facebook. The Migipig.ch platform generates a website for each savings goal that can be posted on Facebook, among other places, as the Sonntagszeitung writes. The website gives others the opportunity to participate financially in the savings goal. But Raiffeisen also wants to explore new avenues with social media. The company currently manages the Facebook and Twitter platforms, and plans to intensify this topic in the future, a spokesperson told the Sonntagszeitung.
Swiss banks apparently want to strengthen their social media presence, although a proper strategy is still not in place. At least that is the conclusion of a study by the consultancy Assetinum.com, according to the Sonntagszeitung. The study examined the social media presence of the world's 50 leading banks in the wealth management sector at the beginning of the year.
Julius Baer was only ranked 45th in the social media study, but now the private bank is apparently aiming for 44th place. It has recently started producing a weekly and a monthly podcast on YouTube under the name "Julius Baer Next Generation". The first monthly clip generated around 135 views in the first week. As soon as the Next Generation is born, there will probably be more.
