Last but not least: Finally!

Traditionally, women grace the covers of women’s magazines. But why is that, exactly? Elle asked itself the same question—and, without further ado, put a man on the cover.

The magazine has chosen the great-grandfather of metrosexuality as its first cover man: David Beckham. After all, you don't have to open the door and shock your readers with Chuck Norris or Silvester Stallone, the people in charge must have thought - so the ladies can slowly get used to stubble, chest hair and angular faces on the cover.

Editor-in-chief Lorraine Candy is happy with the choice. David Beckham is an icon, and Elle is known for featuring icons on the cover. With a male cover star, Candy hopes to appeal to both sexes. It is the first time that only a man has graced the Elle cover. She believes that both men and women will like it.

We say: Finally! Because: those men who read Elle are sure to be thrilled. And the actual target group, the women, anyway - what woman wouldn't rather look at a beautiful man than a thin beauty made even thinner with Photoshop, who mercilessly reminds the viewer how ugly she actually is?
