Last but not least: Made in Swissland
After the Badi and Täschli gate incidents, some good news at last: A Russian design student has invented Helvetica beer—inspired by the font and the country. Swiss-made!
Alexander Kischenko is a student at the British Higher School of Art and Design. Faced with the task of designing packaging that uses only typography, he created Helvetica Beer - based on the classic typeface of the same name. The large number indicates the alcohol content (three, six, and nine percent by volume), and the can color indicates the type of beer: lager silver, stout black.
So far, so good. The design is worth seeing - but there could have been far more thankless fonts as a basis (imagine a Comic Sans beer...). Before a possible market launch, the young man should still revise certain details. For example, the brew is inscribed "Made in Swissland" and the Swiss cross shines through misproportion. Cheers!
