Last but not least: Copy of complete DM store discovered in China

After the US investment bank Goldman Sachs, the drugstore chain DM has also been copied in China. In the north-eastern Chinese city of Shenyang, a complete DM store is said to have been recreated in a shopping center.

This was reported in advance by Wirtschaftswoche on Thursday. The newspaper showed a photo as evidence. The DM logo shines above the entrance to the store and the advertising slogan "Hier bin ich Mensch, hier kauf ich ein" (Here I am human, here I shop) is displayed in German in the shop window.

Dm boss Erich Harsch told the newspaper that his company does not operate any DM stores in China; nor has permission been granted to operate stores with the logo in China. It is still unclear whether and how the company will take action against the copy. The DM chain has been known to many Chinese since traders and tourists stocked up on milk powder in the drugstores when traveling in Germany, as Wirtschaftswoche wrote. Chinese baby food has fallen into disrepute since the scandals surrounding contaminated milk powder.

Business ideas and products are regularly copied in China. At the end of August, a financial institution in Shenzhen became known that calls itself Goldman Sachs and uses the same characters as the US investment bank. (SDA/uma)
