Last but not least: No more paper posters in Berlin subway stations

Paper posters in Berlin's subway stations are facing digital competition. Wall AG has installed exclusively digital advertising displays at Berlin's Friedrichstraße subway station.

The company has thus created the world's first paper poster-free zone. It now features advertising spots and local articles such as cultural tips and weather news, which are intended to shorten the waiting time, as Pressetext.de writes. The reason for choosing the Berlin subway station as Wall AG's first paper poster-free location is the target group mix. According to Daniel Wall, CEO of Wall AG, around 47,000 passengers pass through the station every day. These include Berliners, tourists and business people from Germany and abroad. Hardly any other location in Berlin has such a diverse mix of target groups. Next year, the company will equip more subway stations with the digital advertising media. However, according to Christian Vogel, Head of Digital Outdoor/Innovation at Wall, there is no need to worry about advertising being broadcast from every corner of the public space. This is because the regulations that apply to public spaces already set a healthy framework. Unlike in metropolitan areas in the Far East, the space available for advertising is limited, says Vogel.
