Last but not least: In the focus of society

The organization Café Art distributed disposable cameras to homeless people in London. The best photos will be published in a calendar.

Café Art is an initiative that promotes and supports homeless or socially disadvantaged people through artistic projects. One of these projects is "The Cafe Art 2016 My London Calendar". The photographic realization and public recognition is intended to boost the self-confidence and self-esteem of the photographers (more on this in the film at the bottom). 100 Fujiifilm disposable klmeras were distributed in July. To homeless and marginalized people, who had been Royal Photographic Society were trained. Before the end of July, 80 of the 100 cameras were returned "played with" and 2500 photos were developed. A jury consisting of representatives from Fujifilm, Amateur Photographer Magazine, The London Photo Festival, Christie's and the organization Homeless Link selected the 20 best photos and put them out for public voting on the street. Over 2400 votes were received. To fund the printing of the calendar, the photographers' salaries and other expenses, a Kickstarter project was launched. There is no question that the funding goal will be reached, because the project went viral. That's hardly surprising - the photos are simply too touching. And too good. (hae)
