Last but not least: Let your hair down, grab a ticket

Ogilvy organized a metal festival in Mexico. Admission: hair. Purpose: a good cause.

After Ruf Lanz recently called for beard donations to make lip-reading easier for people with hearing impairments (Werbewoche.ch reported), another hairy collection campaign has reached us from Mexico. However, the reason for the desired hair donation is a little less creative, but purely pragmatic: the hair is used to make wigs for children with cancer from poor backgrounds. The authentic-looking second hair promotes self-esteem and consequently the young patients' recovery.

Undyed hair of at least 25 centimetres in length is required for the production. It is not necessarily obvious that Ogilvy was thinking of metal fans, but it is understandable. The proud long manes are part of the attitude to life - and are probably rarely colored. So the agency organized a festival for the cancer charity Casa de la Amistad and invited nine bands that are obviously famous in the Mexican scene. The highlight: the ticket could be paid for with hair. Visitors parted with some or all of their hair for a good cause. What grows back anyway helps those in need - hard music, soft heart. So beautiful! (hae)
