Last but not least: From Norway with Love

During the opening ceremony in Sochi, a fireworks display at a venue in Norway made its debut. The clear message: Same-sex love also belongs at the Olympic Games.

So now they are underway, the Olympic Games. With the first medals, at the latest, the criticism voiced in the run-up to the Games has receded into the background. After all, the natural disfigurement cannot be undone now anyway. All the money is gone, the buildings more or less built - even a few street dogs could be saved at the last second from dog lover Putin's dog disposers. Attention now turns to the athletes, some of whom have spent years preparing for the Games. And that's a good thing, the competitions are as exciting as ever.

On the other hand, it cannot be assumed that homosexuals have also reconciled with Russia. The human rights issue may yet be resolved. Knowing that it probably won't do any good anyway, the rest of the world is eagerly working on change. Even Google suddenly acted as a moral authority and prominently displayed an excerpt from the Olympic Charter that forbids discrimination on the first day of the event.

The Norwegian sporting goods chain XXL made a more entertaining, but no less clear statement. The "Airport Love" spot premiered at the opening ceremony and ignites a fireworks display of kitsch, special effects and beautiful women. A visual overdose with a statement for dessert. No more, no less. Or to put it in the words of Adweek.com To say, "Somehow you have to love it." (hae)
