Last but not least: A visit to a swingers club with serious consequences
RTL 2 featured a segment on swingers« clubs in its program »Exklusiv – die Reportage.” All visitors present during filming were to be pixelated before the broadcast—at least if they requested it.
One couple specifically requested this - understandably somehow. Unfortunately, the production company did not comply with this request - or simply forgot to make the couple unrecognizable. The 15-year-old daughter, who probably wouldn't have dreamed of her top-serious parents doing such naughty things in their free time, came across the show on the internet. And was probably blindsided. The parents then went to court to claim damages from RTL 2. Although the judge in charge was sympathetic to the family's situation ("I wouldn't want to be in your shoes!"), the case was dismissed. After all, the couple had agreed in principle to being filmed. Nevertheless, the judge suggested paying the victims 200 euros per person as a kind of license fee for their participation. The production company and broadcaster then paid a total of 3,000 euros as an extra fee and for the pre-trial legal costs. Hopefully the parents will pass on one or two euros of this to their poor daughter - who will probably be labeled as a swinger child by her classmates for the rest of her life.
