Last but not least: The world map of alcohol
A neat, interactive world map shows where how much of what is drunk. That's not new, but it's always interesting.
The Italian designer and web developer Piero Ciarfaglia shows with his Alcohol world mapwhat is drunk per week worldwide. The statistics are based on WHO data and include drinkers aged 15 and over. We learn, for example, that Switzerland can certainly keep up with the world's best in terms of wine consumption - even if only the Portuguese could pose a serious threat to the French in this discipline. Did you know that beer consumption in Namibia is twice as high as in this country? And when it comes to spirits, we also look rather harmless compared to Eastern Europe. The fact that no alcohol is drunk at all in countries like Pakistan or Iran is not entirely correct (e.g. Taz.de), but the official statistics are understandable in view of the threat of lashes and prison sentences.
