Last but not least: The 360 degree interview

The new 360grad Interview newspaper has published interviews that have rubbed some politicians the wrong way. Even the interior minister is furious.

The publication, which is available at over 500 newsstands, is edited by Heinz Leu. He is said to have falsified an interview with Alain Berset to such an extent that it gives the impression that it is a current interview. However, the interview was conducted before he was elected to the Federal Council. "Printing an interview more than nine months later without disclosing this and changing it afterwards without consultation is contrary to all journalistic conventions and is unacceptable," said Berset's spokeswoman Nicole Lamon, according to the Sonntagszeitung. The interview was originally conducted by Alice Baumann. She confirmed to the Sonntagszeitung that the published version clearly deviated from her "correctly delivered interview authorized by Alain Berset". She also confirmed that the publisher must have invented some passages.

The two National Councillors Evi Allemann (SP) and Kathrin Bertschy (GLP) were also interviewed for the publication and are quite unhappy about the late publication of long-past conversations. They describe the publication as highly questionable in terms of media ethics, as the Sonntagszeitung writes. Now, however, Leu is not only to change interviews, but also not to pay salaries. He has owed the agreed fees to at least two media professionals for nine months. Baumann is therefore now taking legal action against Leu.

Publisher Heinz Leu, on the other hand, has a good explanation for the whole thing. He admits to having "updated" the interview with Berset, according to the Sonntagszeitung. Otherwise, however, he published the texts "true to the manuscripts". He cites "bumpy advertising sales" as the reason for the delayed publication.

A reason that few publications do not currently have to struggle with. The title of the magazine actually says it all: the interviews are simply rotated 360 degrees and republished. This is why wages cannot be paid in parallel, as parallels only intersect at infinity, and a circle only closes when it is filled with 360 degrees. (uma)
