The Berlin Senate wants to better market the German capital. Twelve well-known personalities are to advise Berlin Mayor Klaus Wowereit on the planning of the image campaign. According to Werben & Verkaufen, these include Springer CEO Mathias Döpfner, MTV boss Catherine Mühlemann and Bayer CEO Werner Wenning. A call for tenders will also begin on Friday, in which agencies can apply for the advertising mandate. The decision on the agency and slogan will be made in November. The first communication measures can then be expected. Over ten million euros are available for the campaign.
Of course, every agency is to be congratulated if it can land this mandate and present the German capital in the best possible light. However, a certain melancholy arises at the thought that just a few years ago, Berlin did not need any advertising measures to be the exciting destination of many emigration dreams. The creators of the future campaign can pat themselves on the back if they can recapture just a fraction of the charm of the shadow of the Wall and the spirit of optimism.
