Last but not least: Anti Brumm Brumm

Disease-carrying mosquitoes thrived in Thailand's slums—until the creative minds at BBDO Bangkok took on the problem.

In Switzerland, people are afraid of the tiger mosquito because it can transmit the dreaded dengue fever. The majority of them are still only found south of the Alps, but there is no question that they will sooner or later spread more widely in the north due to climate change. These horror scenarios have long been a reality in other countries. Mosquitoes are spreading rapidly and with them the diseases. In Thailand, the slums in particular, with their open, stagnant sewers, are true breeding paradises for the biting disease vectors. Control measures only work temporarily and very selectively. In addition, insecticides are harmful to humans and nature. BBDO Bangkok therefore relies on moped riders, who are always and everywhere on the road in Thailand anyway. An exhaust attachment mixed with natural oils repels the insects over a large area. What sounds like theory seems to work in practice. A creative solution that makes use of the existing local infrastructure to solve a global problem, at least locally. (hae)
