Last but not least: An Apple charger a day
Why does Apple keep changing the charging ports on its MacBooks? CEO Tim Cook explains it—in a video that looks almost real.
In 2012, for example, the classic 30-pin connector on iPhones was replaced by the Lightning interface to much protest. Too bad about the beautiful charging cables that had been collected over the years and distributed to every place where you had to charge your phone during the day. And the beautiful dock in the stereo system. And the beautiful battery case.
Even if the communicated technical advantages are difficult to understand for the average consumer: Apple will have had good reasons. But what exactly is the idea behind installing new power adapter ports on MacBooks so that you can no longer use the expensive (and useful) charging cables of the predecessors - incomprehensible. At least until this explanatory video from Collegehumor.com appeared. In true Apple style. And with a Tim Cook who looks almost as convincing as the real thing.
"The new MacBook Air is the most sophisticated laptop ever created. Every element is expertly designed. From the high-resolution retina display to the edge to edge keyboard. And of course, the power-charging port that we changed for no goddamn reason."
It's amazing how the Apple philosophy suddenly makes sense. (hae)
