Last but not least: Old Swede

The online furniture retailer Home24 is once again mocking the big yellow giant from the north in a new poster campaign.

Many people only know Home24 from advertising. Although the online furniture store is now also available in Germany. Whether this speaks for the quality of the advertising or against the quality of the retailer remains to be seen. The fact is: Home24 campaigns always stand out positively. They all have two things in common. Firstly, they are funny. Secondly, they take shots at traditional furniture stores. "Furniture is no longer bought in the middle of nowhere, but conveniently online" was the slogan in 2012 - a "homage" to the distant highway exits where most large furniture stores are located.

The man who is in the endless self-collection halls from Ikea got lost and was only found years later, completely neglected (Werbewoche.ch reported) is still flickering across TV screens in Switzerland. "Life had to go on... and Home24 was our salvation".

And the new poster campaign, which has been on display since this week and was created by the Berlin agency Plantage, also makes it clear why it is better to buy furniture from the comfort of your own home instead of going to the big Swedish furniture store. The idea of adapting Ikea instructions for your own purposes is nothing new. But here the implementation is once again refreshingly successful. (hae)
