Faster than the webmaster allows
Audi and the Swedish agency Åkestam Holst are making the roads safer. With a code.

Driving with a smartphone can be expensive. Not infrequently, you pay with your own life. Or with someone else's, which doesn't make things any better. Audi has therefore collaborated with the creative agency Åkestam Holst in Sweden and developed a simple solution: On the page Safetycode.se (English-language version), every webmaster can download a code which blocks the website if it is called up at a speed of more than 20km/h. The code is also available in the webmaster's version. If one sits on the passenger seat, the blockade can be deactivated by pressing a button.

Whether anyone really implements the code? Doubtful. After all, who wants to voluntarily obstruct traffic to their own website with an Audi ad just because a few unteachable people can't keep their hands off their smartphones in real traffic? Especially since smartphone offenders at the wheel probably primarily call up social media and messenger apps and not websites. The overwhelming majority of 20+ km/h surfers are not behind the wheel, but next to it, on the train or on the bus. In short: a well-intentioned fail.
In addition, the idea of blocking the functions of the smartphone via GPS above a certain speed sounds familiar: Saatchi & Saatchi already did this for Toyota (Werbewoche.ch reported). And Dentsu in Brazil almost simultaneously. Much more coherent. However, hands should be on the wheel, not on the smartphone. (hae)
