A few days ago, Tesla and PayPal founder Elon Musk presented a revised concept for his Mars travel plans. The rocket technology is also to be used for long journeys on Earth. Passengers will travel so fast - at 27,000 km/h - that most destinations can be reached in less than half an hour. And it will be possible to cover any distance on earth within an hour. The animated film, which has already been viewed over 2.1 million times since September 28, shows how the whole thing works.

The investor and visionary is doing everything he can to make his plan for manned space flights to Mars a reality. He wants to send two BFR rockets to the red planet as early as 2022 to determine whether the resources required for the return flight are available.

The "Earth to Earth" rockets will certainly find many solvent and willing customers one day. After all, the time savings are enormous - and time is probably the most valuable commodity in a globalized world. (hae)
