Metal from Finnish DNA
How about an unusual tourism campaign? Finland is celebrating the 100th anniversary of its independence with a heavy metal song composed from the genetic diversity of the Finnish population.

The Finns have a high degree of variation in their gene pools. People who live in the north of Finland and those who live in the south have greater differences in their DNA than, for example, the British and the Dutch.
To highlight this diversity, SEK Helsinki developed a program with scientist Jonathan Middleton from the University of Tampere that transforms the different DNA structures of the Finns into sound fragments. The metal band Apocalyptica then used these to compose not only the piece "The Symphony Of Extremes", which was premiered on November 13, but also individual smaller pieces that form the soundtrack for several commercials. Visit Finland has made all the commercials available on a Landing page ready. Perhaps an inspiration for Switzerland Tourism...? But at least worth listening to! (nod)
