Royal presents
The British supermarket chain Asda shows how the royals celebrate.

The UK's second-largest retail chain believes that guests should be treated like royalty. Namely with Asda products - after all, it was crowned "Quality Food Retailer of the Year". Enough reasons to have Britain's favorite family appear in the last-minute Christmas commercial launched a few days ago.
For the most part, the Hoot agency has cast pretty convincing lookalikes for their production. Nevertheless, it has to be said: The Queen, which Publicis produced on behalf of UBS for the Schwingfest spot was many times better. Do people in the UK have some kind of bite inhibition when it comes to portraying the Queen too realistically?
Asda has a tradition of letting the royals shop at Asda. Back in May, the company let Kate and William store for a present for Grandma...

However, having the royals appear as lookalikes in advertising is not a new idea. T-Mobile UK already did this in 2011 - in the viral hit "The T-Mobile Royal Wedding", which has been clicked on almost 30 million times to date. The supposed cell phone video was created at a time when advertisers were discovering social media channels for themselves and starting to target them with viral content. (hae)
