JWT Amsterdam gives Rembrandt a voice 350 years after his death
Is it possible to reconstruct the voice of a deceased person, even if there are no audio recordings? Yes. Once again, advertising makes it possible.
J. Walter Thompson Amsterdam has already attracted attention in connection with Rembrandt: For ING Bank, the main sponsor of Amsterdam's Rijksmuseum, the agency created a completely new painting of the painter with the help of artificial intelligence and art algorithms. "The Next Rembrandt" has won several awards - including two Grand Prix in Cannes - and has fascinated visitors from all over the world.
Now JWT is doubling down, once again for its client ING. To mark the 350th anniversary of the master's death, the agency reconstructed Rembrandt's voice and then had him speak in six ten-minute tutorials on how to create a work of art by himself. Again, AI-based, elaborate analyses were used to capture Rembrandt's voice color as well as his personality and expressions, for example. A six-minute case film (above) explains the various steps in detail. The work took six months and once again the Dutch have succeeded in creating a fascinating piece of advertising that brings the past back to the present.
