Impatent
Women used to be discriminated against at the patent office. Today, a Samsung campaign aims to ensure more equality in technological professions.

While men used to be able to apply for patents for any crap, women were denied the right to their sometimes ground-breaking inventions. A hat-lifting machine, protective goggles for chickens, a looping bike with four wheels - no invention was too ridiculous to be taken seriously. Provided it came from a man. Women, on the other hand, were not allowed to register trivialities such as the first washing machine or the first computer algorithm. Because they were women and women are known to have nothing to do with technology. The Isobar agency shows the old patents in a campaign - and describes what was rejected at the same time.

Fortunately, that is now a thing of the past. At least more or less. In Brazil, there is apparently still no equality in the technology sector, otherwise the "Tech Girls" project initiated by Samsung would not be necessary. This is a documentary film series that tells the stories of real, successful women in science. The aim is to encourage women to follow the same path. (hae)
