The dog food brand Special Dog celebrated Mother's Day in Brazil with a striking ad campaign.
A pleasing detail: instead of focusing on currently popular torture breeds such as pugs or French bulldogs, the McGarryBowen agency celebrates the good old dachshund. Not only his intact nose, but also his breed has gone out of fashion in recent years. At least in Germany. In its perceived homeland, the population has shrunk from 28,000 puppies per year (1972) to 6300 (2011). In 2007, breeders even sounded the alarm that the dachshund was dying out. At the same time, however, the breed is more popular than ever on the other side of the world: most Dachshunds now live in Japan (as of 2012). (hae)
