The truth about the truth about the truth
The New York Times took a shot at Trump at the Oscars with a Droga5 ad. Now the NRA is firing back - guess who? - the NRA is firing back.

Many media outlets in the USA currently see themselves as the guardians of democracy. Spurred on by a president who is clearly at war with them. And who doesn't always take the truth very seriously. The supposed scare event in Sweden - one of many examples. The established US media, which Trump likes to dismiss under the term "fake news", have long since taken up the challenge. The national daily newspaper The New York Times therefore launched a new campaign in February with the claim "The truth is more important now than ever." and aired an ad created by Droga5 during the Oscars:
The commercial has since been viewed almost eleven million times on YouTube. Less than a week after it was broadcast, the National Rifle Association (NRA) published a response. In the form of a commercial that is visually and stylistically based on the original. The gun lobby is one of the strongest associations in the USA and has a significant influence on politics both financially and through propaganda. Many people who have developed a general distrust of the so-called "mainstream media" are likely to like the address: Why is the truth particularly important now - wasn't it before? We are very familiar with the accusation that the media only report in a one-sided way what suits their concept and political agenda - especially in Germany. The truth doesn't matter to the New York Times, the NRA sneers - otherwise it wouldn't have hushed up certain topics in the past instead of reporting on them objectively.
"The New York Times placed an ad during the Oscars to tell us that the truth is more important now. But why now? The truth is that the truth didn't matter to The New York Times then as much as now - because as long as liberals were "progressing," the truth was depressing. America has stopped looking to The New York Times for the truth, now more than ever. The times are burning and the media elites have been caught holding the match." writes the NRA under the YouTube video.
However, the media rebuke doesn't really seem to speak to many people's hearts: One week after publication, the video has just 13,500 views. But that is probably also "fake news". (hae)
