"Born The Hard Way"

The New York-based agency Anomaly has created a Super Bowl commercial for Anheuser-Busch’s Budweiser beer brand that is attracting a lot of attention in the U.S. Why? The commercial’s theme is immigration, and thanks to Trump, it couldn’t be more timely.

Ahead of the Super Bowl this Sunday, a commercial by the Anomaly agency starring a German immigrant is attracting huge attention for a beer company in the USA. Whether intentional or not: in view of the worldwide wave of protests against US President Donald Trump's immigration policy, the commercial perfectly captures the current mood.

The Anheuser Busch Group promotes its Budweiser brand under the slogan "Born The Hard Way". It tells the story of Adolphus Busch (1839-1913) from Hesse, who later became co-owner of the brewery. The promotional film shows the arduous crossing and Busch's problems on arrival in America: "We don't want you here! Go back home!" he is shouted at. But Busch has a dream: to brew the king of all beers. So he successfully makes his way to St. Louis, Missouri and eventually becomes a successful beer producer. (nod/sda)
