Switzerland Tourism Benelux launches interactive video campaign

Interactive film and video formats are gaining popularity worldwide, thanks in no small part to the content offered by streaming services such as Netflix. Switzerland Tourism (ST) Benelux is now applying this format to tourism advertising.

In a series of short films, two celebrities travel through Switzerland - including Bern, Lucerne, Fribourg and Valais - and let the audience decide where the journey should continue.

With over 1.3 million overnight stays in hotels in 2018, almost 4% growth compared to the previous year, the Benelux countries - Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg - are among the largest markets for Swiss tourism. As a group of countries, the Benelux countries rank fifth after the UK, ahead of France. The ST branches in Amsterdam and Brussels are constantly developing the Benelux markets for Swiss tourism marketing with innovative activities. This is currently the case with an interactive video campaign on social media in collaboration with local stars Puck Moonen ("Most Beautiful Sportswoman in the Netherlands" 2017) and Louis Talpe (Belgian actor).

The two celebrities traveled through Switzerland in the summer of 2018 and were accompanied by camera teams. When watching the resulting films, viewers now have the opportunity to intervene in the progress of the action themselves: Do you want to follow the athlete or actor? To which region? Or would you like more information about the details shown in the commercial? In all the videos, the stars meet again and again, giving the audience the opportunity to interact and change perspectives.

Filmed in five Swiss regions

The film material for the interactive campaign was shot in the five tourist regions of Bern, Fribourg, Lucerne, Ticino and Valais. These regions are the main partners for Swiss tourism advertising in Belgium and the Netherlands. The campaign has been running on ST Benelux's social media channels since mid-April and has met with an exceptionally positive response.
