Ruf Lanz and VBZ: How you can do something for the climate every day

With a double-page advertisement by Ruf Lanz, VBZ alludes to the controversial climate summit in Dubai and presents a more obvious alternative.

In 1995, the global community gathered for the first climate summit in Berlin. Since then, it has flown to a different location every year - with one coronavirus exception in 2020. In 2023, the Climate Change Conference (COP 28) will take place in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates from November 30 to December 12. Around 80,000 people are expected to fly there to talk about the climate. This year's climate summit is controversial. On the one hand, because the emirate is known as an oil supplier and has become rich. Secondly, because Sultan Ahmed al-Jaber has been appointed president of the climate conference. He is Dubai's Minister of Industry and Advanced Technologies - and also the acting CEO of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc), the twelfth largest oil company in the world.

Protecting the climate

With this in mind, VBZ and Ruf Lanz present a more obvious way of doing good for the climate. Silvia Behofsits, Head of Corporate Communications at VBZ and Markus Ruf, Creative Director of Ruf Lanz: "You can fly halfway around the world to have a heated discussion once a year about how to slow down global warming. Or you can do something about it every day by switching to the VBZ streetcars, trolleybuses and battery-powered buses in Zurich."

The VBZ electric fleet takes around 700,000 people comfortably to their destination every day with electricity from 100 percent renewable energy sources. This is good for the climate and good for your nerves in city traffic.
