"Like to Hike": campaign for more safety when hiking continues
In the seventh edition of "Like to Hike", the Swiss Hiking Trail Association focuses on preventative communication to make hikers aware of possible emergency situations. The explanatory video series provides information about risks and shows how to behave correctly if something does go wrong.
Hiking involves certain risks, especially in the mountains. The latest video in the series explains how hikers can deal with emergency situations, such as accidents or changes in the weather. Patricia Cornali, Head of Association Communications, emphasizes that thorough preparation and the right equipment are essential. "Those who are aware of their responsibilities can prevent most risks," says Cornali.
The series also teaches how to react to sudden changes in the weather and what safety measures to take, for example in the event of a fall or a sudden thunderstorm. The campaign also shows how important it is to know your surroundings and to realistically assess your own fitness in order to avoid overexertion and accidents. In addition to practical tips on equipment, such as sturdy hiking boots and a charged cell phone, the video also provides information on the correct behavior in the event of an accident, such as how to provide first aid and call for help.
