Kind regards creates more space for the Zurich Civil Engineering Office

Through the “Quartierblöcke” pilot project, the City of Zurich is currently exploring ways to make life in its neighborhoods more livable. Freundliche Grüsse is supporting the city with conceptual guidance in the areas of design and campaign development, as well as with the implementation of the measures.

The city of Zurich is growing and becoming more densely built-up. This densification requires more green spaces and meeting zones. Politicians and urban society are also calling for neighborhoods to be freed from through traffic and for pilot projects for so-called neighborhood blocks to be implemented. A neighborhood block consists of groups of houses, intersections, neighborhood streets and squares. Street spaces are redesigned through temporary and permanent measures. This creates more space for communal neighborhood life.

Freundliche Grüsse developed the design concept for the pilot project together with the City of Zurich's Civil Engineering Department and created and implemented an accompanying campaign and explanatory video. The neighborhood blocks will be implemented in stages from 2024 to 2027. They will be developed together with residents, businesses, urban society, institutions and stakeholders. There will also be a comprehensive participation process with the urban community. The first forum events on the topic will be held in November 2024.
