Create your own sushi: Yooji's and Bagels of Berkeley launch the hero role

Yooji’s customers can create their own sushi rolls—a true «hero role» for the social media agency Bagels of Berkeley (Publicis Groupe).

Yooji's recently put up large posters with three visuals of sushi masters in heroic staging announcing the imminent launch of the hero role. And this has now happened. Since the end of May, you have been able to put together your very own hero roll from various ingredients at the newly renovated Yooji's in Bern at Orderscreen. The advantage: fewer sushi rolls are pre-produced due to the individual preparations, so there is no longer any need for refrigerated display cabinets. In addition, the ordered rolls are no longer packed in plastic boxes, but are delivered to customers freshly prepared in cardboard packaging.

With the launch of the order screens and, above all, the customizable roll, the idea for the hero roll was finally born. "Anyone who puts together a sushi roll at Yooji's not only creates their own hero roll, but also slips into the hero role of sushi master," explains Rahel Dürsteler, Senior Consultant at Bagels of Berkeley.

Competition for the best role

The hero roll is the roll that customers put together for themselves at Yooji's - and which they can then submit to a competition. Between June 3 and July 5, 2024, all sushi lovers will have the opportunity to design their individual hero reels in Bern and then upload them to the Yooji's website.

There, the hero roles are put to a vote in which they have to collect as many votes as possible, as there is a prize at the end: the hero role with the most votes will be included in the official Yooji's range and will be available on the screen, including
Naming of the creative inventor(s).

To launch the competition, Bagels of Berkeley produced videos in the new Yooji's and also conducted a street survey in Bern's old town to draw the attention of potential customers to the opening and the competition. In addition, various influencers with a focus on Bern were booked, who are now continuously publishing their videos and blog posts on the hero role.
