Thanks to medical advances, it is possible to cure four out of five children of cancer in Switzerland. Nevertheless, cancer remains the second most common cause of death in children and adolescents. In addition, more than two thirds of children who are cured of cancer suffer from late effects. To raise public awareness of childhood cancer, CR Basel and Plan B have developed a spot for social media. In the emotionally charged commercial, the mother of a child with cancer has her head shaved at the hairdresser out of solidarity. In the final scene, the child joins in, and the gesture of a high-five symbolizes solidarity and shared confidence.

In order to join forces and improve the situation of those affected and their families in various areas, various children's cancer organizations joined forces in 2015 to form the umbrella organization "Childhood Cancer Switzerland" has joined forces. Childhood Cancer Switzerland is the mouthpiece for authorities and other organizations and represents the interests of parents, survivors and doctors, for example in the context of legislation and health and research policy.
