Clown Dimitri is also honored with a statue of Woodvetia
The campaign to promote Swiss wood, #Woodvetia, has unveiled another wooden sculpture. It is dedicated to the late clown Dimitri and was unveiled on Monday in Ascona.
With the #Woodvetia campaign, the Federal Office for the Environment and the Swiss forestry and timber industry want to encourage the Swiss population to choose Swiss wood when building a house or producing a new piece of furniture. This is because demand for Swiss wood is falling - and this is having a negative impact on local forests. The lead agency is Rod from Zurich.
On Tuesday, September 19, the statue of the legendary clown Dimitri was presented to the public in Ascona. The statue, made of Swiss wood was unveiled on the shores of Lake Maggiore by his wife Gunda and their daughter Masha Dimitri. Clown Dimitri passed away in July 2016 in the Ticino municipality of Borgnone. (hae)
