Annabelle celebrates 80th anniversary with campaign conceived in-house
With the tagline «Times are changing—we remain committed» and testimonials from members of the editorial staff, Annabelle is putting a face to its 80th anniversary.

80 years ago, the first issue of the Annabelle. On the cover, a woman mysteriously puts her finger over her mouth. An invitation to remain silent? An invitation to share a secret? We no longer know for sure. But the Annabelle editorial team knows one thing for sure: the days when women were better off keeping quiet are definitely over. The claim "Times are changing - we remain committed" also refers to this.
The in-house designed campaign playfully picks up on the first cover motif in the form of a screaming female editor, a stinky finger instead of an index finger in front of the mouth or a man who now has to remain silent for once. The message? "Today, we talk openly about injustices or taboo topics, not just among ourselves as women, but also in dialog with the opposite sex. And yes: mansplaining is definitely over!" says deputy editor-in-chief Jacqueline Krause-Blouin. The subjects were photographed by Zurich photographer Ornella Cacace and will appear as advertisements and banners in various print and online media.
Testimonials for the campaign are: Helene Aecherli (Features Editor), Silvia Binggeli (Editor-in-Chief), Sven Broder (Head of Features), Kerstin Hasse (Online Editor), Jacqueline Krause-Blouin (Deputy Editor-in-Chief) and Nicole Schmauser (Graphic Designer).
