Ricola Schweiz AG expands portfolio with waterdrop

Ricola Schweiz AG will take over the distribution of waterdrop® in Swiss retail from February 2025. The partnership is intended to strengthen the brand and products and drive innovative solutions in the beverage segment.

Ricola Schweiz AG will be setting new trends in the Swiss retail trade from February 1, 2025: by taking over distribution responsibility for waterdrop®, the Austrian pioneer in the microdrinks sector, Ricola is strengthening its portfolio with another forward-looking segment. The aim of the partnership is to sustainably promote brand and product awareness in the Swiss market.

waterdrop® stands for innovative and sustainable beverage solutions that fit perfectly with Ricola's mission: to promote the consumption of water and save plastic in the process. Daniela Ruoss, General Manager of Ricola Schweiz AG, emphasizes: "We are delighted to give a further boost to the growth of this young segment by taking over the retail business of waterdrop®. We expect synergies from the bundling of retail marketing and the supply chain, from which retailers and consumers in Switzerland will benefit."

The new partnership complements Ricola's existing portfolio, which already includes the successful Ricola and Fisherman's Friend brands. Particularly since taking over the distribution of Fisherman's Friend in 2023, Ricola has been able to significantly expand its market share through targeted strategies. With waterdrop®, the company is now taking the next step into the beverage category and underlining its claim to innovation.

The online business of waterdrop® will continue to be managed by the company itself. At the same time, all three brands will retain their strategic priorities and focus on different target groups in order to make optimum use of synergies.
