Mo'Mot conquers Coke-Studio Soundcheck and wins the main prize in the anniversary year
Mo’Mot triumphed at the Coke Studio Soundcheck 2024 and took home the grand prize worth 50,000 francs. In Switzerland’s biggest music contest for newcomers, she dominated the finals against three other finalists and wowed the audience and judges at Zurich’s Plaza.
The Coke Studio Soundcheck, known as a springboard for young artists in Switzerland, is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a very special highlight: Mo'Mot, this year's winner, impressed with a captivating performance that translates the charm of the 70s into modern rhythms. She prevailed against her fellow contestants Jamila, Julie Meletta and Eileen Alister with a musical homage that bridges the gap between past and present.
Around 230 talents applied for the anniversary edition, from which a top-class jury headed by "Sony Music" boss Julie Born selected the best acts. The twelve semi-finalists received individual coaching from renowned mentors such as Kings Elliot, Loco Escrito and Stress. The highlight of the evening was the performance by Mo'Mot, who captivated the audience at Plaza Zurich with her mix of retro and rhythm. Nicky B Fly, the winner of 2022, and the coaches delighted the audience with showcases.
A new stage is now beginning for Mo'Mot: she will receive 50,000 francs as start-up funding, including one year of management by "Capitano Music GmbH". This established agency, which looks after Joya Marleen and Nemo among others, supports up-and-coming talent with targeted coaching and strategic promotion. This paves the way for Mo'Mot to enter the Swiss music scene.
