Update implements new scoreboard portal for CH Media
After twelve years, CH Media replaces the portal for its now eleven regional free advertisers. The platform was again realized by Update on the basis of the free CMS "Typo3".
CH Media is known throughout Switzerland for its high-circulation publications Aargauer newspaper and Switzerland on Sunday as well as more than two dozen radio and TV stations. The publishing house in northwestern Switzerland also has a strong regional presence, with eleven print products now appearing once or twice a week, ranging from the Affoltern district gazette about the City Gazette Olten until the Train press.
Since 2011, these free magazines have presented themselves and their content on a common technical platform under independent addresses and with individual landing pages. Twelve years after going live, announced server updates prompted a complete rebuild of the system using current technologies and based on experience gained. The Zurich agency Update was again commissioned with the implementation.
The primary goal of the Anzeiger portal remained, in addition to a contemporary, user-oriented presentation of the magazines and content, the efficient and cost-effective management of the websites by employees of the individual publications. The new Anzeiger portal is therefore also based on the free and widely used content management system "Typo3", which, with further developed extensions, enables the fully automatic transfer of articles from the CH-Media editorial systems.
The presentation of the websites and content is based on a uniform basic layout with individual, title-related design. In addition, the portal holds various functions and vessels that can be used and integrated individually by the individual web presences: Agenda for event announcements, e-paper functions, a survey tool that can be used in the context of articles or in general, possibilities for article evaluation by readers, and a classifieds system. Furthermore, contemporary user expectations such as responsive design for viewing the site on tablets and smartphones, video integration options and social media share functions are also fulfilled.
