Uber grows strongly in Switzerland - expansion into other cities desired
The ride-hailing company Uber is growing strongly in Switzerland despite criticism and obstructions from the authorities.
This was reported by Zentralschweiz am Sonntag and the Lucerne Newspaper citing company information. "We are doubling our business in Switzerland every six months," Rasoul Jalali, head of Uber in Switzerland, Austria and Germany, told the newspaper. In Zurich, Uber already has around 100,000 active customers, over 1,000 drivers and on average it only takes four and a half minutes for a vehicle to reach a passenger.
However, Jalali does not say whether Uber is now profitable in Switzerland - it is not a public company.
Jalali went on to explain that Uber would like to expand its business model to other Swiss cities, but that there is no precise timetable for the expansion. First, however, the aim is to increase coverage and reliability in existing cities. The reason for Central Switzerland's interest in the topic is the possible launch of Uber in Lucerne. (hae/SDA)
