Wombat Studios: AI-generated images become poster-ready
A Swiss image processing agency is making AI-generated visuals suitable for large-format printing for the first time. Wombat Studios’ new upscaling process allows AI images to be enlarged to up to 10,000 pixels—while simultaneously optimizing quality.

A significant innovation in the field of AI-supported image processing comes from Zurich: the image processing agency Wombat Studios has developed a special upscaling process that can upscale AI-generated images from around 1,000 to up to 10,000 pixels - without the usual loss of quality. This technology makes AI visuals usable for poster campaigns in F200 format for the first time.
"Many of our customers have fallen in love with an AI-generated layout image, but until now it wasn't usable for large format printing," explains Lily Metzker, founder of Wombat Studios. "Now we can not only enlarge these designs, but also perfect them in every detail."

Realistic textures and consistent characters
The process is particularly characterized by its lifelike finish. Problematic areas such as hands, faces and skin textures are specifically optimized. Artificial-looking visuals are transformed into authentic key visuals that also stand up to close examination.
Another advantage: the system makes it possible to portray fictitious people or characters consistently across different subjects. In this way, digital testimonials can be created that give a brand a recognizable face - without the need for a photo shoot. This innovation opens up new opportunities for advertising agencies and brands to use AI visuals directly for out-of-home campaigns.
