Augmented reality is making its way into advertising. Teads is launching a new ad format called Inread AR, which allows customers to virtually try out products.

Everyone is talking about augmented reality. Teads used the Cannes Lions Innovation Festival to demonstrate: Augmented reality is not just talk of the future. It can actually be used directly in advertising materials in the future. Industry representatives were able to test the new advertising format called Inread AR in Cannes, and it will be launched on the market in the next few weeks. The interaction takes place directly in the advertising unit, either on the smartphone or in the browser on the desktop. Meaning: Users can try on Ray-Ban sunglasses virtually, for example.

"More than ever, ads need to surprise end consumers," said Emi Gal, CEO Teads Studio & Group CMO of Teads. "The new ad format allows brands to playfully create an entertaining experience that users remember and therefore get good results." How good the results will really be in the end, however, can hardly be predicted at this point. (pd/ank)
