Galaxus achieves first billion in sales in 2018
The Swiss online retailer Galaxus continues to grow at a very strong pace. In 2018, the company will reach its first billion in revenue.

This writes the Handelszeitung in its current issue. "We will probably succeed in reaching the billion mark in 2018 - we are on track there," says Galaxus CEO Florian Teuteberg in an interview. In 2017, sales of Digitec Galaxus, a 70 percent subsidiary of Migros, amounted to CHF 861 million. To round out its assortment, Galaxus is increasingly adding premium items such as designer furniture to its range. And it's not ruling out the luxury segment: "If Rolex comes knocking, we're in," says Teuteberg.
Parallel to the growth in sales, the company is expanding its workforce. By the end of this year, another two hundred employees are expected to join the company. This could include a team from e-commerce startup Siroop, which Coop recently pulled the plug on. "We are currently looking into taking over a few heads," says Teuteberg.
The Galaxus boss is very open to the competition from Coop. From his side, a collaboration is entirely possible and even desired: "Coop content is absolutely conceivable on Galaxus. We would very much welcome that." Teuteberg rejects the Cumulus loyalty program of the company's parent Migros: "We believe it's better for customers if everyone gets the best possible price from the front, rather than paying more first and then getting a rebate."
Galaxus is planning to launch in Germany with a small workforce. But with great ambition: "We will serve the entire country right from the start.
