Futurecom: Relaunch of Energieschweiz.ch
Futurecom has implemented an innovative website concept for Energie Schweiz that provides comprehensive information on renewable energy and energy efficiency.

There is a lot to tell about energy topics. That's why SwissEnergy was looking for a new concept to make it easier to access the enormous amount of information on EnergySwitzerland.ch facilitate.
Futurecom implemented a new approach to access the more than 300 web pages, the over 500 PDF documents and the various tools, which works both on the PC and on mobile devices. A so-called facet search, often used in online stores to quickly narrow down a large number of offers, served as a model. Here, several filter criteria are set one after the other, while the results are adjusted in real time. By narrowing down the result set step by step, the desired information can be selected conveniently. An appealing tile design provides visitors with a quick overview of the content found.
Testing in beta phase
The new concept without the traditional navigation is a big step. That's why Energie Schweiz wanted to gather feedback from as many users as possible before going live. In a longer beta phase, the new website was operated in parallel with the old website. Users had the opportunity to directly compare the two concepts and make suggestions for improvement. In this way, the best possible acceptance of the new website by the target group was achieved.
Umbraco as technical basis
The new website of Energie Schweiz is based on Umbraco 7, a flexible content management framework. The frontend was realized in AngularJS, it accesses the content repository via a JSON interface. The biggest challenge from a technical perspective was to achieve high performance despite the extensive content and complex filtering options, according to the statement.
The content managers at Energie Schweiz can independently manage both the structure of the website and its content. By categorizing and weighting the content, they also have a direct influence on the results of the facet search in particular. This mechanism was developed specifically for Energie Schweiz.
