Facebook and Google sign deal with Nine Entertainment
In light of Australia's new media law, Facebook and Google have now also reached an agreement with Nine Entertainment. The Australian multimedia company announced on Tuesday that it had signed multi-year contracts with Google and Facebook for the delivery of content under Australia's new news media law.

Google will also expand its marketing activities in the Nine network, wrote the editor of the newspapers Australian Financial Review, The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald citing people familiar with the matter.
In Australia, Internet platforms have had to pay for content that brings users and advertising revenue to their platforms since the end of February, following a media law that has been sharply criticized by U.S. tech companies. Australia was the first country in the world to establish a corresponding code.
Around the globe, governments have been looking for ways to curb the influence of U.S. tech giants for years. Previously, Facebook and Google had already signed agreements with Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. (SDA)
