On Wednesday, Confare Managing Director Barbara Klinka-Ghezzo, Confare Managing Director Michael Ghezzo and Jan Leitermann, head of the jury and Head of Technology Consulting Switzerland at the auditing and consulting firm EY in Switzerland, presented the coveted awards.

The Confare Swiss CIO Award is presented annually by Confare and EY Switzerland in close cooperation and honors the best Swiss IT managers of the year. The winners are selected by a jury headed by Jan Leitermann, Head of Technology Consulting Switzerland at EY in Switzerland.

Anna Maria Blengino, CIO at Sunrise, was named the best IT manager of 2025. "It is not always possible to focus fully on innovation. In many cases, due to a heterogeneous history, the appropriate foundations must first be laid. As in the case of Anna Maria Blengino, who, as an outstanding CIO, has consistently prioritized the modernization of her process, system and data landscape and is now able to drive innovation with maximum efficiency," says Jan Leitermann.

The jury explained its decision: "Anna Maria Blengino shows how IT creates strategic added value - not as a support function, but as a driver of innovation and transformation. With a clear roadmap from the UPC integration to the LG spin-off and a focus on customer orientation, she positions IT as a growth driver for Sunrise."

Also honored as "Top CIO of the Year" were: Raymond Schnidrig, Partner and CTO at Partners Group, Benedikt Schmid, CIO and Data Officer at MS Reinsurance, and Matthias Bryner, CIO of Zurich Children's Hospital (Kispi). "This year, we once again received numerous outstanding applications for the Confare Swiss CIOAWARD. Digital technologies have always been at the center of public interest, not only since the latest developments in the field of AI, we are making the people behind these innovations visible in our companies," emphasizes Leitermann.
