Ebay withdraws from Zurich

Trading platform Ebay is closing its offices in Zurich at the end of the year. Company spokeswoman Parmita Choudhury confirmed this to Handelszeitung. The operation of Ebay International Marketing GmbH there will be discontinued.

According to the spokeswoman, all employees will be offered a transfer to Ebay Marketplaces GmbH, which is domiciled in Bern. According to reports, the decision recently announced by regional boss Godert van Dedem was not well received by the staff in Zurich, as the Handelszeitung writes. Ebay will continue its international business in Bern, "as it has done for more than twenty years," says spokeswoman Choudhury. Ebay last caused turmoil in 2019 with job cuts in Switzerland. At the same time, there was a change at the top of Ebay International AG, which is based here.
