Dating app Tinder rakes in the most money in the Apple Store
For the first time, the dating app Tinder leads the ranking of the most profitable apps in the Apple Store.
As the company App Annie explained in San Francisco on Friday, Tinder was still ahead of the streaming service Netflix and popular online games at Apple.
The placement came shortly after the dating app's developers unveiled a paid model called Tinder Gold. It is intended to make it easier for paying users to find a partner. Tinder Gold costs just under five dollars in the US and is also expected to be available for the Android operating system next month.
Tinder, founded five years ago, is by its own account the most popular dating app in the world. The program allows users to decide on their smartphone whether or not they want to get in touch with other users by swiping over their profile picture. The app is owned by US-based Match Group. Match, based in Dallas, Texas, is 100 percent owned by billionaire Barry Diller's InterActiveCorp (IAC) group. (SDA)
