Worldwebforum: "Zero dumb ideas is a bad concept"
The fifth Worldwidewebforum got off to a brilliant start on Tuesday, January 24 at Stage One in Oerlikon. The initiator and organizer Fabian Hediger can indeed be proud of the development of this platform. The list of speakers reads like a who's who of the international digital business scene. In addition, important Swiss exponents such as Urs Hölzle, Senior VP at Google, and Anita Roth, Head of Policy Research at AIRBNB, could also be won over. The content structure of this year's conference followed the logical sequence "Self - Team - Organization - World" and thus did justice to the general theme of Transform Yourself. In her opening presentation, INSEAD professor Herminia Ibarra focused on the individual's inertia to change and approaches to overcoming this. Marian Goodell from the legendary Burning Man Festival in the Nevada desert emphasized in her contribution that this annual creative event provides scope for the personal development of the tens of thousands of participants. Former Navy Seal Jeff Eggers impressively demonstrated that a successful Seal is not an "egocentric wild boar" but a strong, team-oriented personality. The contribution by Ed Catmull, co-founder of Pixar, can be described as an absolute highlight in terms of content. In an almost philosophical and scientific manner, he explained what favors or hinders creativity and how this can be implemented in the daily work at Pixar and Disney. With the statement - "Zero dumb ideas is a bad concept" he got to the heart of the matter. At the same time, he cleared up some of the myths surrounding Steve Jobs, who co-founded Pixar, and the fact that Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of the World Wide Web, made an appearance rounded off the remarkable conference experience perfectly.Fabian Hediger and his Forum team are not to be envied when it comes to recruiting a similarly high-calibre line-up of speakers for 2018. His performance so far should give us confidence. The WorldwebForum 2018 will once again take place at Stage One in Oerlikon on 18/19.1.2018.
