NZZ launches new app
NEWS APP The Neue Zürcher Zeitung is launching a new digital product called NZZ Selekt. The app offers quality journalism on weekdays in the form of about ten hand-selected articles. Exclusivity is a top priority for the app’s partners.

With the new NZZ Selekt app, users receive around ten hand-picked articles a day for 10 francs a month.NZZ Selekt, the new NZZ app, provides readers with background articles, reports and interviews on a wide range of topics from politics, business, culture and society. From Monday to Friday, the app offers around ten hand-picked articles every day.Addition to the news streamNZZ Selekt thus positions itself as a supplement to the daily news stream. Thomas Stamm, Head of Journalistic Product Mobile: "Today we are inundated with short-winded reports. But these are not enough to form an informed opinion. Background information is often neglected and has to be gathered in a time-consuming process. NZZ Selekt now offers depth for in-between. "NZZ Selekt delivers selected articles directly to the mobile device of a busy, mobile readership. The app shows readers how much reading time they need for each article. They can also vary the font size for optimum reading enjoyment on iPhone and iPad. A night mode is available for pleasant reading in the evening, and users can alert friends directly to exciting articles via Twitter, Facebook and e-mail. They can also save their favorite articles in a personal archive.New paths in the advertising marketNZZ is also breaking new ground in the advertising market with NZZ Selekt. The launch partner is BMW. The car brand is present in the app with both its logo and advertising material. Steven Neubauer, Managing Director of NZZ AG: "Like NZZ, BMW combines tradition and innovation. This launch partner is therefore an ideal fit for NZZ Selekt. "NZZ Selekt will offer other cooperation partners an exclusive platform for their respective sectors. "We are limiting ourselves to a small number of cooperation partners who have an attractive presence in the app," explains Myriam Käser, Head of Corporate Communications at NZZ. "We also make sure that the cooperation partners come from different industries, which also contributes to exclusivity. "NZZ Selekt is offered as a monthly subscription for 10 francs. The subscription can be canceled at any time. The native iOS app is now available in the iTunes Store available. An Android version is planned.
