New channel: Television meets social media
TELEVISION «Bonz TV» is the proposed name for the new Swiss channel, where connected viewers can interactively influence the programming. The founders of Bonz have launched a crowdfunding campaign to get the channel off the ground.

At Bonz TV, the viewer can influence the television program.Current studies show that by 2017, 70 percent of all Internet traffic will consist of web TV streaming, and by 2015, 500 million televisions worldwide will be Internet-enabled. As a result of these changes, many TV broadcasters are already offering programming as a web format in parallel with the cable network. TV remains a growth medium, but it is undergoing profound structural changes that have long been underway. The Internet makes TV reception on computers and mobile devices possible, paving the way for two developments: TV as a mobile experience is becoming a reality, and parallel use of TV and the Internet is increasing. The linear TV program as we know it today will exist less and less. The convergence of the Internet and TV is the main driver of this change. Innovation brakes will have a hard time maintaining their position. Virtual togetherness in the living room is now maintained via social channels. For these reasons, the company is launching Bonz a station of the same name to contribute to education and cultural development.Content missingHowever, there is currently still a lack of varied and individual content that people want. In Germany, for example, new TV formats from private broadcasters go through years of market research before they appear on the screen and are pimped for emotions down to the last detail. These shows are then by no means intellectual, but aim to entertain.People are interested in stories and people need to be able to build a bridge to the topic. "With the TV station BONZ, we want to tell stories from and about people to whom viewers can build a bridge. The goal is to tell stories across all vectors and implement a cross-media program that plays in parallel on the TV, online and social media channels. Reportage with cinematic dynamics, where the viewer has an influence on the program. In-depth information about a program can be accessed with one click," says Ramona Bonbizin, co-founder of the channel. The definition TV transmitter 3.2Second-, fourscreen and TV on demand are current buzzwords in relation to TV consumption. Today, people no longer just use the big screen in the living room for TV content; they also use another device with a screen (laptop, tablet or smartphone). TV is watched according to time and desire. Up to this point, it is called TV 3.0. At BONZ, the viewer is given the opportunity to become part of the company's development, in addition to interactive program participation via the social media channels (TV 3.1). Thus, BONZ would not only be the first Swiss TV station that is on behalf of the viewer, but also belongs in part to the audience.CrowdfundingBonz is launching a crowdfunding campaign for the new station. After that, the crowdinvest will be launched, where shares can be purchased from the public broadcaster. Bon thus gives every citizen residing in Switzerland the opportunity to become a part of the company's development.
