Microspot.ch stays out of the fashion business
The online retailer has significantly expanded its product range. However, it is leaving the fashion sector untouched.

Microspot.ch wants to serve as Siroop successor to become an online department store. Following the expansion of the product range, which began last year, a comprehensive relaunch recently took place (Werbewoche.ch reported).
While most non-food areas are being upgraded and the current range of 300,000 articles is to be doubled by the end of the year, one sector is being left alone for the time being: fashion.
CEO Pierre Wenger explained to Handelszeitung why: "We are currently excluding textiles and shoes because there are already very competitive online players today. We can't offer any added value there at the moment."
This probably refers not only to the mighty fashion market leader Zalando, but also to the Swiss online retailing leader Digitec Galaxus, which has long offered a comprehensive fashion and shoe range. This is a lucrative sector: 20 percent of all shoes and clothes were already ordered online in Switzerland in 2018, according to GfK/VSV.
Microspot, on the other hand, prefers to grow in other areas - and not just in terms of the breadth of its product range. In the medium term, Wenger says the company is focusing on more timely deliveries and offering additional services, such as an assembly service for electronics and furniture.
