The Digital Manifesto is a vision for digital Switzerland. The goal is clear: Switzerland will create jobs with high added value as part of the digital transformation, thereby securing its prosperity. To achieve this, the Digital Manifesto defines requirements and measures for society, politics, infrastructure, education, research, innovation and the economy. At the initiative of digitalswitzerland, the 50 so-called Digital Shapers, together with Federal Councillor Johann Schneider-Ammann, analyzed Switzerland's current situation at a preliminary workshop and compiled concrete ideas in the Digital Manifesto. "The Digital Manifesto is symbolized by the Swiss Digital House, which is based on freedom and personal initiative," the manifesto states. These two values are firmly anchored in our consciousness and are largely responsible for our economic success. The conditions are therefore ideal for Switzerland to become number 1 in Europe in the digital transformation. "We have the intellectual, structural and material prerequisites to successfully master the digital transformation as the 4th industrial revolution," says Ruedi Noser, member of the Council of States and one of the initiators of the Digital Manifesto.Marcel Dobler, designated ICTswitzerland President, Digital Shaper and National Councillor, said at the handover of the manifesto to Federal Councillor Johann Schneider-Ammann: "The manifesto should be a decisive impetus to drive forward digitalization in Switzerland." Among other things, it postulates that Switzerland will become the world's leading research location for digital transformation. For this reason, CHF 2 billion is to flow into basic research into new technologies and areas of application. In addition, "anti-digitalization" regulations are to be avoided and new ideas and business models should only be taxed when they generate profits.Federal Councillor Johann Schneider-Ammann is delighted with the "constructive and uncomplicated" way in which the Digital Manifesto has come about: "It is an excellent basis and impetus for many debates that we need to hold: about the right framework conditions, education initiatives and start-up financing." Johann Schneider-Ammann promises: "I will do everything I can to ensure that the Digital Manifesto does not become a paper tiger, but sets additional momentum in motion."Marc Walder, initiator of digitalswitzerland and CEO of Ringier AG: "Switzerland has all the prerequisites to become the digital center of Europe. This Digital Manifesto for the attention of the Federal Council is a further step towards achieving this goal. The Federal Council's openness towards the impulses and concerns of the Swiss economy is extremely gratifying."
