Cloud solutions for advertising and communications agencies

CLOUD Content marketing campaigns have long been an integral part of creative agencies’ repertoire. To ensure that the desired target audiences are engaged in a personalized, informative, and entertaining way, more and more digital content is being created. Choosing the right cloud solution is crucial in this process.

content marketing campaigns, cloud solutions are needed. By Enrique Nuñez*In order for a digital and content-driven campaign to achieve the desired effect, an infrastructure is required, which in most cases the creative agency does not have internally: Infrastructure resources should be able to scale quickly without sacrificing security, performance or support. The following points should therefore be considered when choosing a cloud provider:Flexibility and stabilityContent marketing campaigns depend on maximum flexibility of the technical platform with simultaneous stability and availability. The channels to be played on and the interactions with consumers can be subject to immense fluctuations over the course of a campaign. So-called traffic spikes - triggered, for example, by seasonal circumstances such as the Christmas season - require maximum flexibility. For example, if a video experiences a lightning viral spread, resources must be able to ramp up in an instant so that availability and playback of the video are not affected. And stability, because content-heavy campaigns in particular must not be slowed down by disruptions or slow loading times of websites or other channels under any circumstances. The damage to the image of the creative agency, client and product is too great.SupportThe focus should be on the agency's own core competence - the agency cannot and should not have to take care of the infrastructure at the same time. For many agencies, classic hosting is therefore out of the question: "Managed Cloud" is the solution for many. Managed stands for a solution that is perfectly tailored to the customer's needs and is created and operated by the cloud provider. Managed also means personal contact persons and support around the clock, 365 days a year, so that the customer can concentrate fully on his business without having to deal with technical details. But the ideal cloud provider not only offers access to technical experts, it also provides support in designing, building and operationally managing the cloud application. And if there is a spontaneous need for developer or system engineer expertise, then the cloud partner steps in and provides the appropriate resources.Transparent billing models and growth opportunitiesWork with a hosting partner who only charges for the services used. "Pay as you need" is the model behind this - the agency obtains the necessary infrastructure such as servers, storage capacities and databases so that access is secured and volume peaks can be fully covered. However, if the workload is higher, additional resources are immediately allocated and services are ramped up. Such a cloud-based model - ideally sourced from an international provider - also offers the advantage that campaigns can be successively expanded into national and cross-border campaigns without having to worry about the necessary infrastructure investments. * Enrique Nuñez is Marketing Manager DACH at Rackspace, a hybrid cloud provider and founder of OpenStack.
